ABOUT

— MEET NAVIT —

Fabrics have a way of telling me what to create with it.
I, of course, have some hard earned skills to go along with each project.

Learning to be flexible and to let things evolve, both in art and life, is a wonderful challenge.

Over the last 20 years I have harnessed a natural talent for sewing.

"I feel truly blessed to do what I Love!"

I have learned in life ~ to create intention ~ and then take the steps necessary towards my life goals. My Mom, taught me all she new about sewing, and at 18 years old I moved from Alberta to Vancouver island, where I new I belonged. I was creating and selling clothes at the Moss street market in Victoria BC at 19 years of age.   My uncle made me a transformable cart, that attatched to the back of my bike, so I could bike to the market and set up my clothing. Having lived in Victoria, Tofino and Sombrio beach, the wild west coast became a part of me.

A couple years later I had my first baby and started doing alterations for people so I could stay at home and raise her.  When she was 1 year old, a few of us single moms got together and started a second hand children’s clothing store/co-op in Victoria, where we could bring our kids to work with us and learn a lot of new business skills.

Eventually we each created our own businesses, and mine was Dream Threads. For the last 20 years I have been an avid designer and seamstress for a steadily growing client base in Victoria. Since then my family has grown, a lot. We are now 4 generations all helping build our home and farm, to regenerate 10 acres of land on the west coast of Vancouver island, in a little town called Shirley.

In my new studio I continue to do Alterations and Custom sewing and have, over the last few years, created my wonderful and unique West Coast Kimonos.  I sell these kimonos at some markets including the Shirley Sunday Market in the summer season.

(my Studio is just across the road from the hall and Shirley Delicious Café on Kirby creek rd)

Call to come try on some Kimonos!
